Casey Jarvis adds Bridge Junior title to his golden resume

Top junior golfer Casey Jarvis added another title to his impressive resume by shooting 68 to
pip Liam Vermaas by a single shot and win the Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series title at
State Mines Country Club on Sunday 8 March 8 2020.
Casey, who lives in Boksburg and attends the Homezone Edu Centre in Benoni, was
delighted to win on his home course. It was a closely contested affair with both Liam of
Benoni Country Club and Nico Els of Centurion Country Club in the running to win the title.
The highlight of Casey’s round was an eagle on the 3 rd hole. “I hit a good drive and then hit
an 8 iron to 15 feet and made the putt. It gave me some good momentum,” said Casey, who
is focusing on staying calm under pressure this year.
“I’m sure a lot of people know me as a very aggressive player, but I have been trying to
change things a bit as I know sometimes being too aggressive doesn’t help when things are
not going according to plan,” said Casey, the reigning Aon South African Stroke Play
Champion and the Aon South African Amateur Champion.
By winning at State Mines Casey has qualified for the regional finals of the Bridge series,
where he will join an elite field playing for the opportunity to compete at Pinehurst in July

The teenage golfer has already achieved so much in his young career, but remains focused
on this goals for 2020. “I’d like to play in the USA Amateur Championship later this year, and
my long term goal is to play on the US PGA Tour.”

Casey was introduced to this game by his father, when aged just 2 and he played his first
tournament aged 6.
His lowest score for 18 holes was shot at Crown Mines – a sensational 60! “What a lot of
people don’t realise is the long hours of practice I’ve put in from a young age,” said Casey
who continues to be coached by his father.

“We are delighted that Casey has qualified for the regional final, which is going to have a
star-studded line up of some of SA’s finest young golfing talent,” said Paul Stewart, Chief
Executive at Bridge Fund Managers.
The Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series launched in 2017, is managed by the SA Golf
Development Board and endorsed by GolfRSA. Open to boys and girls in the U13 and U19
divisions, it is played across 18 tournaments at leading courses countrywide.
