Ulrich beats James in play-off to win at Oubaai

24th January –

What started off as a rainy, misty day, the weather finally cleared to allow the players to enjoy a great round of golf, on a course that was in superb condition.

Ulrich Steinhobel (Pinnacle Point GC) and James Murray (George GC) ended tied on 2 under par 70 after regulation play at Oubaai Golf Club. Ulrich finally prevailed in the play-off winning the BFMJS Southern Cape leg.

Both players had somewhat up and down rounds – Ulrich had 5 birdies, a bogey and a double drop at the difficult par 4 5th. James had a triple drop at the 5th together with 5 birdies, an eagle (at the par 5 4th) and 2 bogeys. It was a close affair with 4 players finishing a shot adrift on 71 – Kyle Conradie (Oubaai). Craig Jacobs (Bellville). Jan Human (Albertinia) and Jaydon Liddell (Kingswood).

By winning the Oubaai leg Ulrich Steinhobel has qualified for the regional South finals of the BFMJS, where he will be playing for the opportunity to compete at Pinehurst in July 2021.
